Admissions Overview

Thank you for your interest in St. Stephen School.

You will need to complete an application form and return it to the school office.

All students who are baptized Roman Catholics should provide us with an official embossed copy of their certificate. A copy may be submitted with the application. However, before the child starts school, the original needs to be seen in the school office. It will be returned to you immediately. Students entering kindergarten or first grade, who are not Roman Catholics, need to provide us with an official, embossed copy of their birth certificate. That, too, will be returned immediately. Just as with the baptismal certificate, if an original is not currently available, a copy will do temporarily. An original of one of these forms must be seen before a child starts school. Acceptance is not final until the appropriate form is received.

A student applying for any grade first through seventh, will need to submit a copy of his/her most recent report card before any final decision concerning acceptance can be made.

Once we have received the application, the application fee and all required forms a screening test is given.

Decisions concerning enrollment in grades one through seven depend upon the number of spaces available after we have completed the re-registration process (mid-March) of our current student body. In some grades we may know whether or not we will have openings before that re-registration process is complete. However, this is not always true. Another consideration is the current enrollment in that particular grade.

There are many factors which contribute to the decisions about acceptance at St. Stephen School. They include the child’s and the family’s religion and whether or not the family is practicing their faith. Siblings are given priority in the admissions process. It is helpful if the child has other members of his/her immediate family already enrolled in the school and that the family has been active here as well as prompt in meeting all its obligations to the school. It is helpful if a family appears to be available to participate in school sponsored activities.

The administration will begin to make acceptance decisions for kindergarten by the beginning of February. Interested families should have their applications in by the January deadline in order to be sure their application is being considered in the first review of applications.

Applications for grades one through seven should be submitted as soon as possible in order that we can make appointments for testing and be ready to make a decision about acceptance as soon as we know how many, if any, spaces we have available. A completed application, and a copy of the applicant’s most recent report card must be received before testing is scheduled. There is a non-refundable application fee of $50.00.
